SWDRA becomes total seal super late model dirt racing series
October 14, 2010
Joey Moriarty, CEO of Total Seal Pistons Rings in Phoenix, Arizona, today announced their continued commitment to the racers and tracks supporting the Southwest portion of the United States by announcing their 2011 sponsorship of the newly named Total Seal Super Late Model Dirt Racing Series, formerly the Southwest Dirt Racing Association - SWDRA.
Moriarty said, “I campaign a Super Late Model series race car, and have personally been involved with SWDRA for some time. After experiencing this exciting series, I wanted to extend the full resources and support of the Total Seal racing family, as well as providing the exposure and credibility Total Seal will bring to this new racing organization. For starters, Total Seal is pledging $8,000 for the points fund for next year. We will also be working diligently at trade shows this winter to enhance and secure a contingency program from many of the leading brands.”
With the new commitment from Total Seal for 2011, agreements have been reached for a race series at Canyon Speedway Park in Phoenix, and USA Raceway in Tucson. We are also looking to expand our schedule with races in Yuma, Show Low and Prescott Valley. Terry Martin will be joining the operation as our competition director. Martin’s extensive experience and reputation for fairness will enhance the racing experience.
Actual dates and details will be available soon. Call 623/587-7400, ask for Joey Moriarty, or check out the new series website at www.totalsealdirtSLM.com When completed, the new site will have race updates, photos, videos, standings and be updated on a regular basis. |

SWDRA LM Set for The Carl Trimmer Classic at USA Raceway
SWDRA Late Models Set for The Carl Trimmer Classic at USA Raceway
by Kevin Montgomery, TUCSON, Ariz. (August 25th, 2010)
The SWDRA Late Models will return to action at USA Raceway for a two day season finale honoring the Legendary Carl Trimmer. This event will not only mark the first time the Arizona based Dirt Late Model Sanctioning organization will take to the high speed Tucson oval in 2010, as well, it will be the first appearance of Late Model racing at the facility since January’s Wild West Shootout.
The 2nd Annual Carl Trimmer Classic is set to honor one of Tucson's greatest racers as well as wrap up a stellar championship season at USA Raceway. Trimmer currently ranks in the top 5 in Barnett Harley Davidson UMP Modified points standings and is a force to reckon with on a weekly basis.
A storied career that has lasted more than fifty years and has no signs of concluding anytime soon, finds Trimmer still hard at the wheel and more determined than ever. Trimmer has racked up more than 700 feature wins and 34 championships including many NASCAR titles as well as the inaugural championships at the famed Corona Speedway and USA Raceway.
"Carl Trimmer is an amazing person on top of being a great racer" commented Benji Lyons. "He has the passion, drive and determination of a 25 year old and is a great inspiration to me and anyone that comes to the track."
The Carl Trimmer Classic will feature the stars of the Super Late Models from all over the Southwest. Several drivers from California, New Mexico and Colorado will make their way south to take on Arizona's best.
Lyons went on to say “We are excited to bring the Late Models back to Tucson and proud to make SWDRA part of the Carl Trimmer Classic. Beside Late Model racing being my passion, it is what Mr. Trimmer spent most of his career racing and winning in, what better way to honor a living legend.”
The UniFirst Super Stocks, Factory Stocks, X-Mods and Hornets will join the Late Model action with champions from each division to be crowned on the final day putting a wrap to the USA Raceway Championship season.
All divisions will compete in two separate events starting with an open practice slated for Thursday October 14th and racing action kicking off Friday October 15th and concluding with Saturday's finale.
